Acquired: Traded to Detroit by Saskatoon (WHL) for cash on October 27, 1926.
Right winger Fred Gordon played briefly with the Detroit Cougars and Boston Bruins in the late 20s. He was a dogged checker who could also create a few chances on offense.

Born in Fleming, Saskatchewan, Gordon played two years with the Indian Head Tigers of the Regina City Senior League before joining the senior Brandon Regals in 1923-24. This was followed by two years in the WCHL with the Saskatoon Crescents. Gordon scored five goals for the Cougars as an NHL rookie in 1926-27 while playing with Duke Keats and Johnny Sheppard then joined the Bruins in a trade for Harry Meeking.

Gordon was a decent role player in Boston and was one of the club's few bright lights in a semi final loss to the New York Rangers. Following his NHL tenure he joined the Minneapolis Millers of the AHA and remained in the league with two other franchises until retiring as a player in 1935. After handing up his skates he served as an amateur referee for a year then coached the AHA's Tulsa Oilers in 1936-37.
