Left winger Lloyd Gross played parts of three NHL seasons in the 20s and 30s. Although his NHL tenure was short-lived, he enjoyed a fair degree of success in the minors.

The native of Kitchener, Ontario played junior and senior with the local Greenshirts between 1925 and 1927. During this time he also played 16 games for the Maple Leafs before joining the Can-Pro loop. In the early 30s he was a prolific scorer in the IAHL and led all goal getters in 1932 and 1933 as a member of the Buffalo Bisons.

In October, 1933 the Bisons traded Gross to the New York Americans for cash. He scored seven goals in 21 games for the club then was part of a four-player deal with the Boston Bruins. Gross only lasted a month in Beantown before he was sent to the Detroit Red Wings for cash. He played a few regular season games and one playoff contest for the club before returning to the IAHL early in the 1934-35 season. In 1937-38 Gross joined the Tulsa Oilers of the American Hockey Association where he recorded consecutive 20-goal seasons and was named to the league's second all-star team both times. Gross retired in 1942 after playing two years with the league's St. Paul Saints.
