Born in Kingston, Ontario, Hendrickson enjoyed a solid junior career with the OHA's Hamilton Tiger Cubs. The Red Wings prospect was recalled for one NHL game in 1957-58 but spent most of the year with the WHL's Edmonton Flyers. The young blueliner dressed for three games in Motown the next season but was chiefly a regular on Edmonton or with the Sudbury Wolves of the EPHL during this time.
Hendrickson got his last look at the NHL during a one game recall in 1961-62. He played the remainder of that year in Sudbury then competed in four minor pro leagues before retiring in 1971. In 1965-66 he set a personal high with 54 points for the WHL's Los Angeles Blades.
