Height: 5' 10"
Weight: 165
Shoots: Right
Born: Jun 28, 1917
Birthplace: Toronto, ON, Canada

A fine skater who could score and check, Bill Jennings played briefly with the Detroit Red Wings and Boston Bruins in the early 1940s. His career was aided by the loss of many players to military service in World War II. Nevertheless, even the reserve players were of a fairly high calibre during this era of fewer teams.

The Toronto native played in his hometown with the West Toronto Nationals, Dominions, and Goodyears. In 1936 he helped the West Toronto Nationals defeat the Saskatoon Wesleys to win the Memorial Cup. Managed by Harold Ballard, this team featured future NHL regulars Roy Conacher and Johnny Crawford.

In 1938-39, Jennings played in the United Kingdom with the Earls Court Rangers. The next year he began his pro career with the Detroit Holzbaugh Fords of the MOHL. Jennings accumulated 44 points in 35 games that year before signing as a free agent with the Detroit Red Wings.

Jennings split the next three seasons between the Wings and the Indianapolis Capitols of the AHL. During the war he played 72 games over the 1943-44 and 1944-45 seasons. In the first of these he was a useful checker for Detroit before he was traded to the Boston Bruins for Pete Leswick. Jennings made the most of his last year in the NHL, scoring 20 goals and helping the Bruins qualify for the playoffs. He retired in 1946 after playing one last year with St. Louis and Hershey in the AHL.
