Detroit traded Marker to the Montreal Maroons for Wally Kilrea before the start of the 1934-35 season, and, playing on a high-flying line with Bob Gracie and Herb Cain, enjoyed a Stanley Cup victory that year. He played three seasons in all for the Maroons. Toronto purchased Marker before the 1938-39 campaign, and he starred on a line with Billy Taylor and Red Heron for three seasons.

The Leafs loaned Gus Marker, Red Heron and Nick Knott to the Brooklyn Americans in October 1941, receiving Lorne Carr as compensation. The loan became permanent, although the Americans folded after the 1941-42 season. Gus Marker retired after the 1942-43 season.
