Right winger Charley "Dutch" Mason played briefly with four different clubs in the 30s. He was a fine two-way worker in the minors whose role was mostly defensive in the NHL.

Born in Seaforth, Ontario, Mason played senior hockey in Saskatoon with the Wesleys, Crescents and at the University of Saskatchewan. After scoring 22 goals for the Vancouver Lions of the North West League in 1933-34, he was traded to the New York Rangers. In 1934-35 Mason enjoyed a solid rookie NHL season playing on a line with Bert Connelly and Lynn Patrick.

After splitting the 1935-36 season between the Rangers and the IAHL's Philadelphia Arrows, Mason scored 24 goals in the minors the next year. He was traded to the New York Americans in October, 1937 and played a couple of games for his new club. Mason ended up playing most of the 1937-38 season with the AHL's Philadelphia Ramblers then split the next season between the Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Black Hawks and the AHL.

Beginning in 1939-40, Mason spent three years as a solid two way forward on four different AHL clubs before retiring. He took a year away from the game then coached the junior Saskatoon Huskies in 1943-44 before leaving hockey for good.
