Doug McKay played pro hockey from 1947-48 season to the 1951-52 for five different teams in four leagues. He won the Calder Cup in 1950 with Indianapolis Capitals
in the American Hockey L
eague. He also played one game in Stanley Cup finals for Detroit Red Wings
in 1950, helping them defeat the New York Rangers in a seven game series.
McKay's name was left off the Cup because he wasn't a regular member of the team. However, he qualified to have his name on it.
McKay and Chris Hayes
are the only players who played their only NHL game in the Stanley Cup finals for a Stanley Cup winning team. McKay also did a rare double with teammate Gordon Haidy
winning the Calder Cup
and Stanley Cup
in the same season.
