Defenseman John Miszuk was a decent playmaker who played his position well during a career that lasted over 200 games in the 1960s and '70s. He also enjoyed a distinguished career in the minors and the WHA.

Born in Naliboki, Poland, Miszuk cane to Canada as a boy and played junior with the Hamilton Tigers Cubs of the OHA. He spent his first two pro seasons with the WHL's Edmonton Flyers then played 42 games as a rookie with the Detroit Red Wings in 1963-64.

Miszuk returned to the minors in 1964-65 and was named to the AHL second all-star team after scoring 55 points for the Buffalo Bisons. After two years as a farmhand with the Chicago Black Hawks where he was a CHL second team all-star in 1967, the Philadelphia Flyers in the 1967 expansion draft claimed the solid blueliner. Miszuk was a steady influence on the club's defensive brigade and helped them finish first in the West Division in 1967-68.

In May 1969, Miszuk was traded to the Minnesota North Stars for Wayne Hillman. He played his last 50 NHL games for his new team before spending four years with the WHL's San Diego Gulls. Miszuk was a top performer for the club and was voted on to the league's first all-star team in 1973 and 1974. In 1974-75, the veteran backliner joined the Michigan Stags of the WHA and enjoyed three solid years in the league. Miszuk retired in 1979 after spending two seasons in the PHL with the San Francisco Shamrocks and the San Diego Hawks.
