The next four years of Moffat's hockey playing days took place in Tulsa as a member of the AHA's Oilers. His strong play earned him a free-agent contract with the NHL's Detroit Red Wings in 1932. He played 24 games for the Wings that year and also suited up with the IHL's Detroit Olympics. He played with both teams for several years and was loaned to the IHL's Windsor Bulldogs as an injury replacement for a game in 1935 before being traded to Windsor for cash that fall. In 1935-36 he played in 47 games for the Bulldogs. His 30 points that year earned him a spot on the Second All-Star Team.

Moffat played the final four years of his pro career in the PCHL, first with the Spokane Clippers and then the Seattle Seahawks.

In 37 NHL games, Moffat scored one goal and one assist.
