Jean-Paul Leblanc
Jean-Paul Leblanc
Number: 21
Height: 5' 10"
Weight: 170
Born: Oct 20, 1946
Birthplace: South Durham, QC, Canada
Acquired: Traded to Detroit by Chicago for Detroit's second-round choice (Jean Savard) in 1977 amateur draft on November 20, 1975.
Center Jean-Paul LeBlanc played briefly with the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Black Hawks in the 60s and 70s. He was a decent playmaker and face-off man who could also battle successfully for the puck in the corners.

Born South Durham, Quebec, and the Chicago Black Hawks' prospect played junior hockey with St. Catharines of the OHA. He scored 19 goals as a rookie pro with the CHL's Dallas Black Hawks in 1967-68. Apart from a six-game recall to Chicago in 1968-69, he was a fine two-way performer in the minors through the 1971-72 season. In 1972 he was named to the CHL second all-star team after leading the league with 68 assists.

The clever forward spent three years in the WHA with the Los Angeles Sharks and Michigan Stags. Prior to the 1975-76 season LeBlanc was acquired by the Detroit Red Wings for a draft pick. He was a decent role player for two years and formed a solid trio with Bill Lochead and Danny Grant. By the late 70s he was spending most of his time in the CHL with the Kansas City Red Wings and was named to the league's first and second all-star team once each. LeBlanc retired in 1981 after playing two years with the AHL's Adirondack Red Wings. He then spent the 1981-82 season as the coach of the Kalamazoo Wings of the IHL.
