Drafted: MTL / 1969 NHL Amateur Draft
Round: 3rd (32nd overall)
Bobby Sheehan was known in hockey circles as a small individual that made up for his lack of size by his quick wit. The much traveled American-born centre began his minor career with the Halifax Canadiens in the NSJHL where in his first season, 1966-67, he led the league in goals with 64 and amassed 115 points in only 50 games. After two seasons in Halifax, Sheehan moved to the OHA to play for the St. Catharines Black Hawks in 1968-69. He collected 85 points in 44 games and was selected by the Montreal Canadiens 32nd overall in that year's Amateur Draft.

The Montreal Canadiens called him up to the NHL for 16 games but spent the majority of the 1969-70 season in the AHL with the Montreal Voyageurs. Sheehan had the same experience the next season and then was traded to the California Golden Seals, where he played his first full NHL season.

His next stop was the newly formed WHA and the New York Raiders where he had a very productive season, scoring 88 points in 75 games. From New York, Sheehan was traded to the Edmonton Oilers where he stayed until 1975. Although he was playing in the WHA, the Chicago Blackhawks, who owned his NHL rights, lured him back to the NHL for the 1975-76 season.

But soon Sheehan was on the move once again, this time landing in Detroit with the Red Wings. Over the next few seasons he spent most of his time in the NHL--with the New York Rangers, Colorado Rockies, and Los Angeles Kings--as well as numerous teams in the AHL, WHA, and CHL, before hanging up his skates after the 1982-83 season.
