Acquired: Traded to Detroit by New York Americans for cash on November 7, 1939.
Goalie Alfie Moore began his junior career with the Toronto Canoe Club at the age of 16 in 1920-21 when he played three games. Over the next three years he played with Toronto Aura Lee and moved up to the Senior team in 1924-25.

In 1925-26 he was a member of the London Ravens, starting 20 regular season games and leading them into the Allan Cup. It was not until more than a decade later that he finally had the opportunity to play in the NHL when he played in 1936-37 with the New York Americans. He got off to an impressive start, shutting out the Montreal Canadiens 4-0 in his debut. Among some of the notables on that New York team included; Nels Stewart and David "Sweeney" Schriner. In 18 games he had a record of 7-11-0 with one shutout and a 3.46 GAA.

Moore did not play in the NHL again until two years later when he was between the pipes for two games with the Americans. In 1939-40, while playing in Indianapolis he was transferred to the Detroit Red Wings to replace the injured Tiny Thompson. He played just game with the Wings, which was the final game of his NHL career.

Moore played another two seasons in the AHL, retiring as a member of the Buffalo Bisons after the 1941-42 season.
