Acquired: Traded to Detroit by Edmonton (WHL) for cash on October 5, 1926.
Netminder Herb Stuart played three games for the Detroit Cougars in 1926-27. He was better known for his experience as a senior player in Manitoba and in the Can-Pro and International American Leagues.

Born in Brantford, Ontario, Stuart played junior with the hometown Alexanders and the nearby Paris AAA team. This was followed by five years of stopping pucks for the senior Brandon Elks. In 1924 he joined the WCHL's Edmonton Eskimos and the next year led the league with 19 wins.

Stuart was traded to the Cougars for cash in October 1926 but only played three games due to injuries. The next year he played 42 games for the Detroit Olympics of the Can-Pro League. Stuart then moved on to the IAHL where he spent most of the next several years with the London Tecumsehs before retiring in 1936. In 1934 he led all playoff netminders with a 1.50 goals against mark in the playoffs while leading London to the IAHL championship.
