Sam St. Laurent
(sai luh RAH)
Number: 35
Height: 5' 10"
Weight: 190
Catches: Left
Born: Feb 16, 1959
Birthplace: Arvida, QC, Canada
Acquired: Traded to Detroit by New Jersey for Steve Richmond on August 18, 1986.
After 10 years in the minors, Sam St. Laurent played his first game in the NHL during the 1985-86 season with the Devils and recorded a 1-0 shutout.

St. Laurent was signed as a free agent by the Flyers in 1979 and played for the team's AHL affiliate, the Maine Mariners, helping them win the league championship in 1984. Before playing a game in Philadelphia, St. Laurent was traded to the Devils where he played both in the NHL and the AHL. He was named to the AHL's second all-star team in both 1985 and '86 while winning the Aldege "Baz" Bastien Memorial Award as the league's top goalie and sharing the Harry "Hap" Holmes Memorial Award for the fewest goals allowed in 1985-86.

New Jersey traded St. Laurent to Detroit in 1986 and St. Laurent spent the majority of his playing time in the minors. He won the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy as the playoff MVP for 1989 and saw his last action in the NHL during the 1989-90 season. St. Laurent was dealt one last time, in 1990, to the Red Wings, but he never played a game for them. He retired in the 1991-92 season.
