A skilled right winger with decent offensive instincts, Ladislav Kohn showed flashes of brilliance since entering the league in the mid-1990s. Overall he was still waiting to put it all together in NHL for an entire season.

Born in Uherske Hradiste, Czechoslovakia, Kohn came to Canada as a teenager to play junior hockey. He started with the Brandon Wheat Kings but played most of his two junior years with the Swift Current Broncos. After scoring 68 points in 69 games for the Broncos in 1993-94, Kohn was chosen 175th overall by the Calgary Flames in 1994. He played five games with Calgary in 1995-96 but saw most of his ice time with Saint John of AHL.

Kohn was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs for former first round draft pick David Cooper in July 1998. He played 16 games in 1998-99 under Pat Quinn's fast flowing system. His only moment of note was setting up Steve Thomas for the overtime winner against the Montreal Canadiens in the opening game at the Air Canada Centre. The next year he failed to make the Leafs and scored 69 points in 61 games for St. John's in 1998-99.

Kohn was claimed on waivers by the Atlanta Thrashers in September 1999 then traded the same day to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. He received his first extended look in the NHL and scored 21 points in 77 games while seeing some time on the second power play unit.

Internationally, Kohn has represented his homeland at the 1995 World Juniors and at the 2008 World Championships.
