Brian Lashoff WAS born ON July 16, 1990, in Albany, New York. A product of the Ontario Hockey League, where he played predominantly with the Barrie Colts, Lashoff was undrafted by an NHL club, but instead signed as a free agent by the Detroit Red Wings in the summer of 2008.
Lashoff's first full professional season was the 2010-11 campaign. He would appear in 37 games for the Red Wings AHL affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins, tallying three assists.
With the NHL locked out to start the 2012-13 season, Lashoff would once again begin the year in the AHL. When play resumed at the NHL level, he would get his first shot at the big time. He made his NHL debut on January 21, 2013, against the Columbus Blue Jackets. He would go on to appear in 31 games for the Red Wings during the shortened season, scoring a goal and adding four assists from the back end.
