Kings-Red Wings Preview

GAME: Los Angeles Kings (14-10-1-1) at Detroit Red Wings (15-10-3-0).

TIME: Monday, 7:30 p.m. EST.

Brett Hull looks to reach another personal milestone as the Detroit Red Wings host the Los Angeles Kings in a meeting of first-place teams.

Hull scored his 731st goal Saturday to move into a tie with Marcel Dionne for third place on the NHL's all-time list.

Dionne has been in third place since retiring in 1989. Wayne Gretzky is first with 894 goals, followed by Gordie Howe, who scored 801.

"I'm flattered and honored to be a part of that group," Hull said.

Hull's goal gave Detroit a 1-0 lead but the Red Wings went on to lose 5-2 to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Hull has scored in six straight games and has 10 goals in his last 12 games.

Saturday's loss ended the Red Wings' five-game unbeaten streak. Detroit has lost just once in its last seven (5-1-1).

The Red Wings, who sit tied with St. Louis atop the Central Division, will have their hands full with the surging Kings, who have won two straight and four of their last five.

Ziggy Palffy and Michael Cammalleri each scored two goals, and Alexander Frolov had a goal and two assists in Los Angeles' 7-3 victory over Washington on Saturday.

Martin Straka and Trent Klatt also scored for the Pacific Division-leading Kings.

Straka, who was acquired from Pittsburgh on Monday, is expected to spend a lot of time on a line with recently activated Jozef Stumpel and Palffy, who missed some time due to a facial injury.

"We got Stumpy back, we got Ziggy back, and now we've got Straka. So we've got a lot of talent on three lines, and every line had been producing," forward Eric Belanger said. "Our line has been great the last five or six games, and the line with Stumpy, Ziggy and Straka has been clicking also. So there are a lot of combinations we can throw out there."
