Bruins-Red Wings Preview

GAME: Boston Bruins (15-11-10-4) at Detroit Red Wings (26-12-4-1).

TIME: Wednesday, 7:30 p.m. EST.

The Detroit Red Wings look to continue their dominance on home ice when they play the first of two meetings with the Boston Bruins in the next four days.

Detroit routed the Nashville Predators 6-0 on Monday to improve to 11-0-1 in its last 12 games at Joe Louis Arena. The Red Wings, who have won a season high-tying four in a row overall, went unbeaten in a franchise-record 19 straight home games from Dec. 31, 2000-April 7, 2001.

Detroit has an NHL-best 17 home wins and has outscored opponents 52-19 during its current unbeaten run at Joe Louis.

Curtis Joseph continues to play well in place of injured starter Dominik Hasek. Joseph made 26 saves against Nashville for his 43rd career shutout, improving to 8-2-1 since taking over after Hasek went down with a groin injury in early December.

"Certainly, things are going well, no question about it," said Joseph, who has been on the trading block since Hasek came out of retirement in June, and had been sent to Grand Rapids of the AHL before Hasek was hurt.

"Just trying not to think about it and keep it going," said Joseph, who is 10-5-1 this season with two shutouts.

Boston is unbeaten in two straight. The Bruins skated to a 3-3 tie at home with the New York Islanders on Saturday after beating the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2 on the road on New Year's Day.

Against New York, the Bruins let a valuable point in the standings slip away when they blew a 3-1 lead with just over 12 minutes remaining in the game.

"It's disappointing because when you're up 3-1 at home ... you feel like you should get two points," Boston defenseman Sean O'Donnell said. "The minute you let up the other team smells blood and they come after you. That's what they did tonight."

Boston has earned at least a point in its last four meetings with Detroit, going 2-0-0-2 in the series since the 2000-01 season.

The teams meet again in Boston on Saturday.
