The Detroit Red Wings look to win their sixth straight game and increase their league-leading points total as they visit the Vancouver Canucks.

The Red Wings defeated the Edmonton Oilers 4-3 in a shootout Saturday, giving them 97 points - one more than Eastern Conference leaders Ottawa and Carolina.

Jason Williams and Henrik Zetterberg scored in the shootout.

"We weren't flying tonight, but we found a way," Detroit coach Mike Babcock said.

Zetterberg, who had a power-play goal and an assist in regulation, has goals in each of his last five games. He also has 10 goals and five assists in his last nine games.

The Red Wings scored two more power-play goals Saturday, giving them nine in five games.

Goaltender Manny Legace made 25 saves to improve to 10-2 with two shutouts since Jan. 30. He is just 1-2-0 with a 2.68 goals-against average against the Canucks this season.

Detroit has scored just five goals in three games against Vancouver this season.

While the Wings have the best road winning percentage in the league, the Canucks have been struggling at home recently.

After starting the season 19-3-3 at GM Place, Vancouver only is 1-4-1 there since Feb. 8.

The Canucks are coming off a much-needed 3-2 win Froday over the Columbus Blue Jackets, snapping a season-high five-game losing streak.

Brendan Morrison netted the game-winner when his shot caromed off Columbus' Manny Malhotra with just over six minutes to play.

Mattias Ohlund and Anson Carter scored power-play goals, but Vancouver has converted just 3-of-33 power-play opportunities in its last six games.

"Every game is big for us down the stretch," said Carter, who has five goals in his last seven games. "We've dug ourselves a little bit of a hole, but I think we welcome the challenge."

Vancouver is one of five teams separated by just four points in the Western Conference playoff race. The Canucks are in seventh place, one point ahead of Los Angeles and one point behind sixth-place Edmonton.

Anaheim is two points behind the Canucks, and they play each other twice more.

"We've got to get back playing well and put a streak together because teams around us are winning," Morrison said.
