BLUES (14-9-5) at RED WINGS (19-7-3)

TV -- FS-A (HD), MSG (HD)

Last 10 --
St. Louis 4-4-2; Detroit 6-3-1

Season series -- This is the second of six meetings. The Red Wings hammered the Blues, 7-3, on Nov. 17 at Joe Louis Arena. Detroit turned a 3-3 game into a blowout on the strength of four third-period goals.

Big story --
The Red Wings have lost three of four at home after dominating there early in the season. This could be a good time for them to find their game, as the Blues haven't been road warriors this season. They are just 5-7-3 away from Scottrade Center.

Team Scope:

Red Wings -- They were blanked 5-0 by the Los Angeles Kings on Monday, but it certainly wasn't for a lack of trying. The Red Wings poured 51 shots on goaltender Jonathan Quick, who turned aside everything he saw. Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard, who made 21 saves, just chalked it up to a game against a goaltender in a zone.

"Hats off to Quickie. He played a hell of a game. He stole that one," Howard said. "He was in a zone. There's nothing you can do about it. He was stopping everything. I think we could have went all night and he probably still would have gave up zero. He was just in one of those zones."

Blues -- After dropping four straight in regulation, the Blues are on a 2-0-2 run. They're coming off a 2-1 shootout loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday that was similar to the Wings' loss that same day. Cam Ward stopped 38 shots and was perfect in the shootout to hand the Blues a rare defeat at home.

"I feel bad for Jaro," Blues forward Alex Steen said of teammate Jaroslav Halak, who made 28 saves in the loss. "We just couldn't get the goals for him."

Who's hot --
Steen has found a groove of late, with 4 goals and 3 assists in his last six games. ... Red Wings star Pavel Datsyuk has 3 goals and 4 assists in his last three games.

Injury report -- The Blues have two players -- forwards Andy McDonald and David Perron -- battling concussions. Center T.J. Oshie (ankle) and defenseman Roman Polak (wrist) are out long-term. … Mike Modano (wrist) will be out of the lineup until February.

Stat pack --
The Blues are 4-for-8 with the man advantage the last two games after they went 22 straight chances without converting. ... The Red Wings are 4-for-34 with the man advantage the past nine games after going 10-for-27 in the previous seven.

Puck drop --
"I thought we did a lot of really good things tonight. We tilted the rink and had good traffic, and their goalie was good. You don't ever want to get beat 5-0 at home, but in saying all that, we did lots of really good things." -- Red Wings coach Mike Babcock in the Detroit Free Press
