The Wings (2-3-1) loss to the Leafs in overtime, 4-3, Friday at Joe Louis Arena. Toronto (4-3-0) is on a two game winning streak, having defeated the Ottawa Senators, 5-3, last Tuesday.
Detroit will take 20 players to Toronto, including nine players that skated in Friday's contest, including forwards Justin Abdelkader, Chris Conner, Darren Helm, Cory Emmerton, Landon Ferraro and Joakim Andersson; and defensemen Niklas Kronwall, Brad Stuart and Garnet Exelby.
Goaltender Ty Conklin will get the start for the Wings in net, while Joey MacDonald will serve in a backup capacity.
The other nine players heading to Toronto are forwards Fabian Brunnstrom, Patrick Eaves, Drew Miller, Tomas Tatar, Jiri Hudler, and Ryan Johnson; and defensemen Jakub Kindl, Jonathan Ericsson, and Brian Lashoff.
Brummstrom and Johnson were invited to training camp and are fighting for roster spots. Brummstrom, who has scored three goals in the preseason, has looked very good, and is a frontrunner to winning a contract with the Wings. But coach Mike Babcock has stated throughout training camp that he will continue to "watch every night" and won't make a final roster determination before the last preseason game, which is Sunday when the Wings host the Pittsburgh Penguins.
