Penguins at Red Wings
Bill Roose  - Managing Editor | DetroitRedWings.com
DETROIT – The Red Wings conclude the preseason with a Sunday evening exhibition – their third in three straight nights – when they host the Sidney Crosby-less Pittsburgh Penguins at Joe Louis Arena.

The Wings (3-3-1) begin the regular-season at home next Friday against the Ottawa Senators at JLA.

The Penguins, who are undefeated in the preseason, skated Saturday afternoon at JLA. It was also announced the Pens (5-0-0) will also be without star forward Evgeni Malkin, who has played in all four previous exhibition games.

Team doctors have not cleared Crosby for any physical contract in practices as he continues his long recovery from the concussion that sidelined him last January 6.

Meanwhile, the Red Wings, who snapped a two-game losing streak with a 4-2 win over the Maple Leafs in Toronto Saturday evening, will have a few roster decisions to address this week.

With forward Jan Mursak (fractured ankle) out for three months, the Wings have need on the fourth line. Fortunately, the club has some depth, and certainly one option is to sign Fabian Brunnstrom to a free agency contract. Brunnstrom, who was invited to training camp, has three goals in the preseason.

Three players that are nursing injuries, albeit minor in nature, but are hoping to be back in time for Friday’s opener are, forward Danny Cleary (upper body), center Pavel Datsyuk (back stiffness), and defenseman Mike Commodore (bruised MCL).

As for Sunday’s lineup, the Wings are expected to play the following:

FORWARDS (12)
Johan Franzen, Cory Emmerton, Todd Bertuzzi, Fabian Brunnstrom, Valtteri Filppula, Jiri Hudler, Drew Miller, Ryan Johnson, Patrick Eaves, Gustav Nyquist, Tomas Tatar, and Brent Raedeke.

DEFENSEMEN (6)
Nicklas Lidtrom, Ian White, Jonathan Ericsson, Jakub Kindl, Travis Ehrhardt, and Logan Pyett.

GOALIES (2)
 Jimmy Howard and Ty Conklin
