DETROIT (AP) - Detroit coach Mike Babcock was at a loss to explain his team's collapse.

"I don't know what happened," said Babcock after the Red Wings blew a 3-0 lead in a 6-3 loss to Dallas on Sunday night. "We lost our composure and turned the puck over and just couldn't get settled down again."

Jere Lehtinen scored two goals, Niklas Hagman, Philippe Boucher, Niko Kapanen, and Mathias Tjarnqvist also scored for Dallas, which didn't even get a shot until 6:43 remained in the first period.

Mike Modano, who is from the Detroit suburb of Westland, and Sergei Zubov each added three assists.

"You try to keep your composure and stick with the game plan," said Modano. "Don't throw too many 'hope for plays' and get our `D' and everybody stretched out."

Henrik Zetterberg and Mathieu Schneider each had a goal and an assist and Jason Williams added a goal for Detroit. Pavel Datsyuk had three assists.

Lehtinen's power-play goal 6:17 into the third period gave Dallas a 4-3 lead, when he backhanded in a loose puck from the bottom of the left circle for his 22nd goal. Kapanen scored 41 seconds later and Tjarnqvist's goal came at 8:44.

"Our power play got us back into the game," Dallas coach Dave Tippett said. "And we pushed in the third and got the ones we needed."

Red Wings' goalie Chris Osgood was replaced by Manny Legace after Tjarnqvist's goal.

Zetterberg credited the Stars' comeback to their goaltender change of replacing Marty Turco with Johan Hedberg early in the second period, when it was 3-0.

"They switched goalies and Hedberg came in and played really good," Zetterberg said. "We had some good chances and he made the saves."

Detroit scored twice in the first 92 seconds of the second period to take a 3-0 lead, but Dallas rallied for three of its own.

Schneider scored 25 seconds into the period to make it 2-0, putting in a wrist shot from the point. Williams' power-play goal at 1:32 came when he made a wrist shot from the high slot.

"We didn't play our game in the first period," Tippett said. "We got a lot of penalties that put us on our heels early. We went into the dressing room and I thought we regrouped.

"But came out and promptly gave up two more. I think it was a shock to the system."

Turco was pulled in favor of Hedberg after Williams' goal. It was the second straight game that Dallas has won after Turco was pulled after giving up three goals and Hedberg came in.

"I felt pretty good," Hedberg said. "Once you get in the playing mode, it's easier. The guys really stepped up from the moment I came in."

Turco is 0-5-5 against the Red Wings in his career.

Hagman got Dallas on the board at 2:21 with a wraparound effort. Lehtinen's first goal of the game, which came on the power play, made it 3-2 with 8:50 left in the middle period. He blasted a one-timer through Osgood from the right circle.

Another power-play goal, this one by Boucher, tied the score with 2:01 remaining.

Zetterberg's 5-on-3 power-play goal gave Detroit a 1-0 lead 3:13 into the game. He scored from below the right face-off circle.

Notes: Detroit F Johan Franzen missed his second straight game with an upper body injury. ... It was the second straight game that Turco has been pulled after signing a 4-year contract extension worth $5.7 million per season on Wednesday. ... Datsyuk's assist on Schneider's goal was the 200th point of his career.
