DETROIT (AP) - Tomas Vokoun frustrated the Detroit Red Wings for the second straight night and Paul Kariya and Steve Sullivan capitalized on their chances.

Kariya's breakaway goal 35 seconds into overtime gave the Nashville Predators a 2-1 win over Detroit on Tuesday night.

It was the second consecutive win in two days by Nashville over Detroit at Joe Louis Arena. Monday night's game - a 3-2 Nashville win - was a makeup for the Nov. 21, contest, in which Detroit's Jiri Fischer collapsed on the bench in the first period because of cardiac arrest.

Steve Sullivan scored the other goal, also on a breakaway, for Nashville (31-12-6) and Tomas Vokoun made 38 saves for the second straight night.

``Such a good couple nights for us. We did it again, we give them chances on the power play,'' said Vokoun. ``They had like three posts it could have been different. It was our night. We had a great goal in overtime and we got four points on the road against the Red Wings. I mean, if you look at the history, that's never been the case.''

Each team had seven power-play opportunities.

Mathieu Schneider got Detroit's only goal during a two-man advantage and Manny Legace stopped 26 shots.

``It's frustrating. We weren't able to execute around the net,'' Detroit coach Mike Babcock said.

Kariya picked up a long pass from Marek Zidlicky, went in on Legace, made a move to his backhand and flipped the puck into the net for his 17th of the season.

``It was a great play by Z,'' said Kariya. ``He saw me curling there and he laid it right out there for me. He even put some backspin on it so it stayed there. A great pass by Z.''

Sullivan tied it at 1 with a short-handed goal 8:32 into the second period. He picked up a loose puck along the left wing boards in the offensive zone for a breakaway. He skated in on Legace, cut across the slot, made a move and put a shot over the prone Red Wings' goaltender.

He also had a breakaway goal on Monday night.

``I was able to get a break,'' said Sullivan. ``I was able to go 5-hole yesterday on Manny. I think I tried to show him the 5-hole and deke it around him and I was able to sneak it by.''

Legace lamented his inability to stop the breakaways.

``Two breakaway goals,'' he said. ``I've got to stop the one in overtime to give our team a chance to win.''

Schneider's 5-on-3 power-play goal gave Detroit a 1-0 lead with 9:28 left in the first period. He beat Vokoun with a slap shot from the high slot.

It was Schneider's 16th of the season and he now has a goal in each of the last four games. The last NHL defenseman with a four-game goal streak was the Los Angeles Kings' Jaroslav Modry in 2002-03.
