Red Wings 3, Predators 0
Associated Press

DETROIT (AP) -You know Dominik Hasek is feeling like his old self when he ranges out of the net to play the puck even when it's not the most prudent thing to do.

He did exactly that and stopped 21 shots to record his second consecutive shutout and lift the Detroit Red Wings to a 3-0 win over the Nashville Predators on Friday night. He whitewashed the Edmonton Oilers 3-0 Wednesday night.

Hasek, who has 71 career shutouts, has not allowed a goal in 153 minutes and 28 seconds.

Hasek and Detroit haven't allowed a goal since 6:32 of the second period in a 4-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night.

Hasek downplayed the recent run.

"I feel very good the way I play," he said. "It's a long season and one or two weeks of great play doesn't mean much to me."

While Hasek seems to be hitting his stride after a slow start, the Red Wings are making his job easier by playing good defense in front of the net. He only had to stop 16 shots against Edmonton.

"What can I say?" the 41-year-old goaltender said. "I really appreciated the way my teammates played in front of me."

Nicklas Lidstrom, who had one of Detroit's goals, credited the Red Wings' tactics.

"I think that's as good defensively as we've ever played," he said. "Not a big gap between the forwards and the defensemen."

Robert Lang, and Dan Cleary also scored for Detroit (11-4-1), which won its eighth straight.

The shutout snapped a five-game winning streak for Nashville (9-4-1), and its run of 10 straight games (9-0-1) with at least a point. Tomas Vokoun made 37 saves.

"I thought they beat us in all the hard areas today," said Nashville coach Barry Trotz. "There's no question they were the better team. They executed better. We didn't execute coming out of the zone and turned the puck over too much. They won all the one-on-one battles. They just kept putting the puck on the net."

The Red Wings had 40 shots.

"They were better than us and they deserved to win," Vokoun said. " ... They just played great defense. They didn't give up any rebounds, nothing. We had maybe three or four chances all game."

Lang opened the scoring 8:46 into the game when he beat Vokoun on a backhand shot from the bottom of the right circle. It was Lang's fifth goal of the season.

Lidstrom got a power-play goal 1:28 into the third period, when he put in a loose puck from the crease for his third goal.

Cleary added an empty-net goal with 1:19 remaining for his fourth of the season.

Notes: Detroit was without RW Jason Williams (concussion). ... Red Wings' D Niklas Kronwall missed the third period because of a sore groin. ... Lidstrom will be the Grand Marshal of Detroit's "America's Thanksgiving Parade." ... Scratched for Nashville were RW Scottie Upshall and LW Darcy Hordichuk. ... Cleary's four goals have come in the last three games.
