DETROIT (AP) -The Dallas Stars were outplayed for most of their game against the Detroit Red Wings. They made up for it in the last 6 minutes of regulation.

Sergei Zubov scored the only goal of the shootout to lift Dallas to a 4-3 comeback victory Friday night and improved its points streak to six straight games.

The Stars scored three goals in 6:17 to tie the game at 3 in the third period and send it into overtime. Dallas had been 2-8-5 in its previous 15 games against Dallas.

"We stuck with the game plan and said between the second and the third we'll put it all on the line here and see what happens," said Dallas goalie Mike Smith, who stopped Pavel Datsyuk, Dan Cleary, and Todd Bertuzzi in the shootout. "Fortunately, we came out with the win."

Brenden Morrow, Mike Ribeiro, and Philippe Boucher scored for Dallas in regulation. Smith made 31 saves.

Kris Draper had a goal and an assist for Detroit, Bertuzzi got his first goal as a member of the Red Wings, and Kirk Maltby also scored. Dominik Hasek stopped 21 shots.

"We had it totally in control," Detroit coach Mike Babcock said. "Even when they got the power-play goal, it was still totally in control."

Morrow put Dallas on the board with 8:59 left in the third period with the power-play goal, beating Hasek with a backhand shot from the slot.

"We stuck with it, we went to get a power-play goal and from there, we started forechecking better, making them make mistakes," Ribeiro said. "That's what happens. Good forechecking creates chances from there."

Detroit repeatedly gave the puck away in the period.

"We made so many turnovers in the third period," Hasek said. "We just could dump the puck and play a smart game when you're up 3-1 and we were making turnover after turnover."

Ribeiro got his 17th goal when he put in a rebound with 3:29 left in regulation, and Boucher tied it with 2:42 left on a one-timer from the right circle for his 19th goal.

"It's something we can build on. We were a little disappointed in our effort the first two periods," Morrow said. "Another big third period, a great effort by Smitty."

Bertuzzi opened the scoring 7:04 in when his attempted pass went in off the shaft of Zubov's stick.

Maltby made it 2-0 1:08 into the second period when his shot from deep along the right boards beat Smith, who was screened.

Draper scored on a breakaway with the teams playing 4-on-4 with 5:28 left in the second period.

Detroit defenseman Niklas Kronwall injured his hip 24 seconds into the game on a check by Dallas defenseman Joel Lundqvist, and didn't return.

Kronwall was hit from the side and into the end boards by Lundqvist as he stopped behind the Detroit net and tried to retrieve the puck. Kronwall, who has already had a broken leg and major knee surgery in his three-season NHL career, was taken to Detroit Medical Center for further tests.

Babcock said the team had not yet gotten any conclusive test results after the game.

Notes: Detroit D Brett Lebda missed his third game with a concussion. ... D Stephane Robidas (concussion), D Darryl Sydor (hand), and Eric Lindros (groin) all missed the game for Dallas. ... The Red Wings scored more than two goals in a game for the first time since March 14, a span of six games.
