Red Wings 5, Blackhawks 4, SO
Associated Press

DETROIT (AP) -After allowing a bad goal to give Chicago the lead, Detroit's Ty Conklin made sure to keep his composure in case the Red Wings fought back.

Turns out, that's just what happened.

Pavel Datsyuk scored in a shootout to complete a comeback from a two-goal deficit and lift the Detroit Red Wings to a 5-4 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night.

"Ty saved the game at the end. He made some key saves," Marian Hossa said. "That's what you need from your goalie. He was strong at the end."

Valtteri Filppula had a goal and an assist and Hossa and Henrik Zetterberg also scored for Detroit. Dan Cleary had two assists and Ty Conklin made 28 saves. He stopped Jonathan Toews, Patrick Sharp and Patrick Kane in the shootout.

"It was nice, especially after that third goal, to be able to battle through," Conklin said.

Chicago's third goal came on the power play with just 4 seconds left in the first period. Toews got the puck in the bottom of the right circle. Conklin then dropped to his knees too early and Toews simply fired a shot over Conklin's shoulder on the short side.

Toews scored twice, Andrew Ladd had a goal and an assist and Sharp added a goal for Chicago in regulation. Patrick Kane and Brian Campbell each had two assists and Cristobal Huet stopped 26 shots.

Hossa tied it at 4 with 9:37 left in the third period when he beat Huet from the bottom of the right circle on a rush for his 15th goal.

Zetterberg made it 4-3 with a power-play goal 6:32 into the third period. He chipped in Johan Franzen's pass for his 12th goal.

"At the start of the third we talked about no panic," Hossa said. "Just keep skating at them and take the puck to their zone."

Ladd's fourth goal gave the Blackhawks a 4-2 lead 2:00 into the second period. Chicago led 3-2 after one but Detroit scored twice in the first 4:33.

"It's frustrating," Chicago defenseman Brent Seabrook said. "We need to shore that up. We need to be better with the puck."

Filppula got his third goal on the Red Wings' first shot of the game, at 1:32, when his one-time shot from the left circle trickled in through Huet.

Hudler made it 2-0 when he put one in from the bottom of the left circle after Huet got caught behind the net.

Sharp's power-play goal put the Blackhawks on the board at 9:09 when he ripped in a one-timer from the bottom of the left circle for his 15th goal. Toews then scored twice in the last 3:33 of the period.

He cut in off the right side, put a move on Cleary to the inside, made another move and beat Conklin to tie it at 2 before he beat Conklin again for the lead.

"Good effort on our part," Blackhawks' coach Joel Quenneville said. "A tough ending."
