NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ Getting goals from Brett Hull and Brendan Shanahan was just what the Detroit Red Wings needed.

Kirk Maltby also added a goal with Pavel Datsyuk scoring an empty-netter with 13.5 seconds left Tuesday night, and the Detroit Red Wings snapped the Nashville Predators' 11-game home unbeaten streak with a 4-1 victory.

Detroit coach Dave Lewis said it was especially nice to see Hull and Shanahan score. Hull now has three goals in his last six games after a 20-game drought without a goal, and Shanahan hadn't scored a goal since Jan. 3.

``They love scoring, and they're great scorers,'' Lewis said. ``They go through little slides where they don't get the puck in the net. They still do other things, and it's just nice.''

Nashville hadn't lost at home since a 2-1 overtime defeat against Vancouver on Dec. 16. The streak had tied the franchise high.

``Give them full credit. They played a good road game,'' Nashville coach Barry Trotz said. ``They try to take the crowd out of it, and they did. They played a really smart game.''

The Red Wings scored three goals in the first 6:17 of the second period, knocking All-Star goalie Tomas Vokoun from the game. Detroit goalie Manny Legace, who stopped 24 shots for the victory, called it shocking.

``He stopped some great chances in the first. It could've easily been three goals in the first. It was just very unlike him. Some great passes from behind the net. He had no chance. He was looking one way, the puck was going in the other,'' Legace said.

Hull scored his 19th this season and 734th in his career with a shot from the bottom of the right circle at 1:01 as the puck bounced off Nashville defenseman Kimmo Timonen's stick. Shanahan scored his 18th just 81 seconds later with a wrister near the crease off assists from Henrik Zetterberg and Tomas Holmstrom.

Maltby made it 3-0 at 6:17 with his eighth under Vokoun's left leg off an assist from Kris Draper.

``The third we should probably have had back,'' Trotz said. ``But the first two ... Hull and Shanahan, I'm pretty sure they're going to be in the Hall of Fame some day.''

Vokoun then skated off the ice and was replaced by backup Chris Mason. Vokoun had been 6-1-0 in his previous seven starts, and a victory would have tied his career-high of 25 victories set last season.

But Vokoun gave up three goals on 11 shots, including each of the three shots he faced in the second period. Nashville hadn't pulled a goalie at home since Wade Flaherty replaced Vokoun in a 5-3 loss to Vancouver on March 20, 2003.

``I felt pretty good in the first period,'' Vokoun said. ``They got a couple quick goals, then I was scrambling. You try to do everything perfectly, and that is when you run into trouble.''

Nashville avoided the shutout with its 10th short-handed goal this season, a franchise record. Wyatt Smith scored his second this season after Scott Walker was knocked down and lost the puck, and Smith put the puck past Legace at 16:38 of the second.

Detroit had been 1-3-1 in its previous five games in Nashville.
