DETROIT (AP) _ The Detroit Red Wings keep winning even as they keep losing players.

Despite losing two players for at least a month in a span of less than 12 hours, Detroit beat Calgary 2-1 Wednesday night behind Manny Legace's 28 saves.

Center Kris Draper partially tore his rotator cuff when he collided with goaltender Curtis Joseph during Wednesday's morning skate. He is expected to miss a month.

Defenseman Mathieu Dandenault broke his right foot when he was hit by a shot from Calgary's Robyn Regehr late in the first period. Red Wings coach Dave Lewis said Dandenault will miss four-to-six weeks.

The Red Wings already were without defensemen Derian Hatcher (knee), Chris Chelios (shoulder), Jason Woolley (back) and Niklas Kronwall (broken leg) because of injuries. At one point earlier in the season, 10 regulars were out at the same time with injuries.

``We've definitely overcome a lot,'' said defenseman Mathieu Schneider. ``That makes us a better team.''

Henrik Zetterberg and Mark Mowers, who replaced Draper in the lineup, scored for Detroit.

Jarome Iginla had Calgary's goal, and Roman Turek made 20 saves.

One of Legace's biggest saves was a pad stop on Craig Conroy's shot from the right faceoff circle a little over five minutes into the third period.

``We did a lot of good things out there, but the opportunities we had we didn't finish them,'' said Calgary's Martin Gelinas. ``When we get those chances, we've got to finish as a team and score the big goals.''

Zetterberg broke a scoreless tie with a power-play goal in the second period. He put in the rebound of a shot by Schneider 26 seconds after Calgary's Stephane Yelle was sent off for holding.

Mowers' goal came midway in the third period. After taking a pass from Kirk Maltby, Mowers put the puck around defenseman Jordan Leopold, picked it up, cut in off the left wing and put a backhander over Turek.

``It was just something that kind of happened,'' said Mowers. ``I had the D-man kind of vulnerable.''

The match wasn't one of Detroit's best efforts this season.

``I don't think we played well,'' said Lewis. ``But we found a way to win the hockey game.''

Iginla foiled Legace's shutout attempt with 4:59 remaining. He gathered a loose puck at the top of the left circle, skated in and beat Legace with a wrist shot from the bottom of the left circle.

The Flames dominated play in the first period, outshooting the Red Wings 12-5.

``They just came out flying,'' Legace said. ``A lot of young guys who kept coming at you, all four lines.''

Calgary coach Darryl Sutter was pleased with everything but the result.

``We played really well,'' he said. ``We had enough opportunities to win the hockey game, put it that way.''
